USPS Solicits Major Ammo Buy, As Stamp Prices Increase On You

Why is the United States Postal Service soliciting a huge gun/ammo purchase, after years of struggling financially?

The United States Postal Service has solicited a purchase for "assorted small arms ammunition," on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO.gov) website. This will begin a bidding process on the purchase of small arms ammunition.

This isn't the first time the United States government and it's agencies have made bids, or purchased large quantaties of guns and ammunition. In fact, overall billions of rounds of ammunition have been purchased by various agencies over the past few years. These agencies include the Department of Homeland Security,  the Department of Education,  the IRS, the Social Security Administration,  and more.

Despite the fact that in fiscal year 2012 -- the USPS lost a record $15.9 Billion in revenue, they are now soliciting ammunition purchases.

While this is all happening, your stamp prices have increased from $0.46 to $0.49. A book of first-class, one-ounce stamps will now cost you $9.80.

Many members of Congress have inquired about these purchases to no avail, and it just leaves Americans to question why this is being done, seemingly in 'secret.' It is likely though, that this is being done to manipulate the market, since the Executive Branch has not been able to pass effective guns laws. However, all of this is simply speculation.

With all of the giant ammo purchases being made by the Federal Government, once seen as a "conspiracy theory," you can add another agency to that list. The real question is, why?
